Get Behind the Wheel of the 2019 Jeep CherokeeThe new 2019 Jeep Cherokee is out, and it comes with some updated features. While many of the core features stayed the same, it has an updated look, new off-roading capabilities, and an upgraded engine. Check out a few reasons why you should consider buying the 2019 Jeep Cherokee for your next vehicle.

New Outside Look

The sheet metal is mainly the same in the Jeep Cherokee, but the rear is resculpted. The license-plate recess got moved from the bumper to the liftgate, which means the tail is tauter, and there is a higher-stretching skid plate. While the taillights are in the same place, they have a lighter, slimmer underline now. The front and back bumpers have a more aggressive look, the ride height is increased, the wheels were made more for off-roading, and there are taller fender flares.

Upgraded Engine

The engine room got a big change, as the engine now is a turbocharged inline-four, 2.0-liter engine that has 295 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower. There are a cooled-exhaust-gas-recirculation system and a water-cooled exhaust manifold on the cylinder head. Jeep also added new start/stop technology and a twin-scroll turbo on the cylinder head. The front-wheel-drive Limited trim and the Latitude and Latitude Plus each have a 2.4-liter engine. The 16-valve engine has a flow-control valve intake manifold and variable valve timing.

Off-Roading Capabilities

The Jeep Cherokee has an independent multi-link suspension in the back and an independent suspension with struts in the front. There are three Active Drive 4×4 systems to choose from when off-roading to make sure the tires have traction when they need it. It can go in water that’s as deep as 19 inches thanks to the body and electrical sealing. There also is a high air intake so you can go through flooded underpasses and through streams with ease. All four corners of the Cherokee have independent suspension so they’ll have better contact with the ground.

Sleek Interior

The front seats are made from soft Nappa leather and are ventilated and heated. The steering wheel trim is also made from leather that can be heated for those cold winter days, while the rest of the steering wheel has a high-gloss Zebrano wood finish. There are impressive chrome metal accents on the shift knob, steering wheel, door handles, and center console.  The personalized instrument cluster lets you put only the information you want on your dashboard. You can scroll through features quickly with the touch of a button on the steering wheel.

Protective Features

The body is made of high-strength steel and helps to maximize crash protection while optimizing the vehicle’s weight and dynamics. There are eight airbags throughout the car, including front passenger knee bolster airbags and full-length side-curtain airbags to make sure all passengers are protected in case of a crash.
