Just down the road from Vacaville in Suisun City, you’ll find Chianti Osteria, a wonderful Italian restaurant. While this place has amazing seafood in its own right, it’s also a great compromise for those in your party who don’t want seafood. Chef Salvio knows a thing or two about Italian food, being from Naples, but he also serves up incredibly delicious seafood dishes, such as seafood ravioli, scallops, muscles, and lobster. You may also find unusual dishes on the menu, such as squid ink pasta. As good as the food is at Chianti Osteria, the service is even better.
Best Homegrown Seafood
You have to love a seafood restaurant that practices sustainability in its own backyard. The owners of Hog Island Oyster Co. in Napa have a great story. In the beginning, they were marine biologist by day and oyster farmers by night. This restaurant serves sustainably farmed oysters and shellfish that the owners raised on their own 160-acre farm in Tomales Bay, California, and another in Discovery Bay, Washington.
They harvest and sell over 3.5 million oysters, Manila clams, and mussels each year. You’ll find some of the freshest local seafood at this restaurant. In addition, Hog Island grows its own garden and offers a delicious selection of organic beer and wine. Hog Island Oyster Co. offers half-price oysters and drink specials Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m.,
Best Flavorful Seafood
If you prefer your seafood with a Cajun kick, you’ll love The Workshop in Benicia. From the catfish po’ boy to the huge seafood platter, this restaurant serves up fresh selections with mouthwatering seasoning. The restaurant is next to a bait shop and has a small outdoor seating area. Although many locals consider it a hidden gem, you might not think so if you go to for lunch. It tends to draw a crowd, which speaks to the quality and taste of the food.
Best Fried Seafood
If you prefer your seafood fried up in a crispy golden layer of goodness, check out Tugboat Fish and Chips on Peabody Road in Vacaville. This family-owned business provides a family-friendly atmosphere with delicious dishes such as fish and chips, clam strips, and fried shrimp. Sides include favorites such as french fries, rice, hush puppies, and more. What the place lacks in its strip-mall atmosphere, it makes up for with its delicious batter and fried-to-perfection seafood
